Staircase Restoration (Protected Habitat Area)
Help improve trail safety while protecting a rare and endangered plant species.
Location: Cibolo Nature Center - 140 City Park Rd, Boerne, Tx
Schedule: 8:00-11:00 and 12:30 - 3:00 pm
Description:
Join us in restoring Staircase #2, located near a federally and state-listed endangered plant—the sycamore leaf snowbell. This project is focused on stabilizing the staircase while protecting the surrounding habitat and preventing further erosion.
All work in this area will follow strict guidelines to comply with the Endangered Species Act and Texas endangered species protections. Safeguarding the snowbell and its root zone is our highest priority.
Volunteer Activities May Include:
- Assisting with staircase stabilization and repair
- Supporting erosion control efforts on the surrounding slope
- Following designated work zones to protect sensitive habitat
- Assisting with setup and maintenance of protection buffers
Environmental Protection Measures:
- A clearly marked protection buffer will be established around the plant prior to work
- No digging, soil compaction, staging of materials, or equipment use will occur within the buffer zone
- A designated volunteer will monitor the protection area throughout the workday to ensure compliance

- Ability to follow detailed instructions and environmental guidelines
- Willingness to work carefully in a sensitive habitat area
