Description:
During the butterfly survey, community scientists walk at a steady pace throughout the Nature Center’s four habitats: prairie, marsh, riparian, and woodland, alongside an experienced team leader. Participants document the butterfly species observed as well as the plants they are associating with.
Willingness to learn is a must. This is a great opportunity for both beginners and those looking to deepen their knowledge of butterfly identification and behavior.
Requirements:

Must be able to walk unaided on sometimes uneven ground

Comfortable working outdoors with sun and wind exposure

Bring any necessary personal items (hat, sunscreen, water bottle)

Enthusiasm and curiosity encouraged!
Schedule:

9:00 AM – 12:00 PM: Marsh, prairie, and riparian habitats

12:00 PM – 1:00 PM: Lunch (provided)

1:00 PM – 3:00 PM: Woodland habitat
