Volunteering With the Cibolo Center for Conservation

Bird Survey Volunteer Opportunity

All levels of birding experience are welcome. This is a great opportunity to practice and expand your birding skills.

A small group of volunteers will identify and count bird species across riparian, woodland, prairie, and marsh habitats on the Cibolo Nature Center campus. A separate tally list for each habitat will be submitted to eBird, an online database administered by the Cornell Lab of Ornithology.

Meeting Details

• Location: Cibolo Nature Center Pavilion

• Time: 8:00 AM on indicated dates

  • Note: 7:30 AM start time for June, July, August, and September

What to Expect

• Several miles of walking on generally flat terrain

• Some stair steps may be encountered

• Walking route is approximately 2–2.5 miles, covering all campus habitats

What to Bring & Wear

• Binoculars

• Long pants

• Sturdy walking shoes

• Hat and sun protection

• Dress appropriately for field conditions
