Surveys and Research - WFR Week Family Herp Talk & Walk
Family Herp Program and Talk
Herp enthusiasts, young and old, are invited to join us for a new WFR Week program that provides a rich educational experience and gives participants a chance to see real field research techniques up close.
The program includes an introduction to snakes using a domestic snake that participants can safely handle while learning about snake biology and ecology. Props and photos will also be shared to help illustrate key points.
Participants will observe the microchipping process before joining our Herp Specialist on a short herp walk. During the walk, our specialist will demonstrate how water snakes are captured. Participants will be invited to help release them.
Location: Cibolo Nature Center, 140 City Park Drive. Meet on the Visitor Center Porch.
What to Wear/Bring: Closed-toe shoes, sun protection (hat, sunscreen), bug repellent, and comfortable field clothes. Please bring plenty of water.
