Monarch Larval Monitoring Program at Herff Farm

Event Description

Volunteers will walk designated areas of Herff Farm to flag and count milkweed plants while searching for monarch eggs and larvae throughout the growing season.

Participants must be able to walk unaided on uneven terrain and be comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions (heat, cold, wind, etc.).

Sign-Up Required

Training will be provided on-site.

Wednesdays | 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM

Recommended Attire:

  • Sturdy, closed-toe shoes

  • Weather-appropriate clothing

  • Hat, sunscreen, and insect repellent

  • Refillable water bottle

Meeting Location

The team meets at the far south end of the Herff Farm parking lot (turn right after entering the gate). Your team lead will meet you outside the Teaching Barn, and the group will proceed to the monitoring site on foot.
