Garden Pond Restoration

Help restore a unique aquatic learning space at The Cibolo!

Location: Cibolo Nature Center, 140 City Park Rd, Boerne, Tx
Schedule: 8:00-11:00 a.m.

Description:
Join us in restoring the Garden Pond as a small aquatic learning landscape that models the ecology of Cibolo Creek. This project will demonstrate how riparian systems function and regenerate, while making this type of ecosystem more accessible to visitors who may not be able to reach remote areas along the creek.

The restored pond will also serve as a hands-on learning site for youth participating in our Nature Education summer programs.

Volunteer Activities May Include:

• Carefully removing and relocating native flora and fauna
• Cleaning and reshaping the pond basin
• Assisting with construction of a secondary catchment pool
• Improving water flow and circulation
• Stabilizing pond edges
• Supporting future interpretive features

Requirements & Expectations:

• Willingness to work outdoors in a hands-on environment
• Ability to perform light to moderate physical tasks
• Interest in habitat restoration and aquatic ecosystems
