Ant Identification & Count

Description:

This team will identify and count ant species collected during the Wednesday and Thursday field surveys. Using stereo microscopes and identification keys, participants will sort and classify the specimens to species or genus level as appropriate.

This part of the survey helps researchers evaluate species diversity and distribution in the prairie ecosystem and track long-term changes in population dynamics.

Requirements:
None. No prior experience necessary—guidance will be provided.

Recommended Attire:
Indoor, comfortable clothing. No special attire needed, but bring reading glasses if you require them for close-up work.
