Amphibian Survey (Evening)

Description:

Community scientists will explore the creek and surrounding habitats after dusk to:

  • Listen for frog calls

  • Identify species present

  • Rank the chorus based on call frequency

This survey covers woodland, prairie, and marsh ecosystems and helps monitor amphibian populations—important indicators of water quality. Data is submitted to the Texas Parks and Wildlife Nature Trackers program.


Requirements:

  • Must be able to walk unaided on uneven terrain

  • Flashlight or headlamp required

  • Insect spray

  • Survey conducted at night

Recommended Attire:

  • Closed-toe shoes or boots

  • Long pants

  • Weather-appropriate outdoor clothing
