Field Trip Volunteer Description
We are seeking enthusiastic volunteers to assist with our upcoming Field Trips this Fall. This exciting and educational experience will include hands-on activities that explore wildlife and environmental science. Volunteers will help guide small groups of students through various activities, ensuring safety and engagement throughout the day.
School & Grade Level: Knowlton Elementary School, 5th grade, 100 students (The group will be split between the Farm and Nature Center, 50 students on one side and 50 on the other. They will stay the entire time at that location with 3 activities and rotations.
Location: 140 City Park Rd, Boerne, Tx. Meet in the Visitor Center and Teaching Garden at Herff Farm
Activities: Skull hike, birding, Creek Hike to observe erosion/weathering/deposition
Volunteer Responsibilities:
- Assist in guiding small groups of students through each activity.
- Provide support during outdoor activities and help manage student behavior.
- Ensure safety protocols are followed.
- Engage students by answering questions and facilitating discussions.
- Help set up and clean up materials for each activity.
Requirements:
- A love for working with children and a passion for nature and science.
- Comfortable being outdoors and walking with the students on a hike.
- Completed and approved background check - Background Check Form
