Position Overview: The Inspiration Garden Docent serves as a welcoming presence for visitors, helping them explore and connect with an example of how to grow organically in the Hill Country. This role blends hospitality, education, and light hands-on garden support to create a meaningful visitor experience.
Location: Herff Farm – Inspiration Garden / 33 Herff Road, Enter main gate turn left and park near the grapevine arbor, the entrance to the Farmer's Market
Key Responsibilities:
- Greet visitors as they enter the garden during the Farmers Market, engaging in friendly conversation and answering questions.
- Share information about the garden’s layout, plantings, sustainable practices, and seasonal highlights.
- Offer tours of the garden when needed, tailoring the experience to the visitor’s interests.
- Promote upcoming classes, programs, and events; encourage volunteer involvement.
- Provide general information about the Cibolo Center for Conservation, its mission, and community impact.
- Assist with light gardening tasks.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Friendly, approachable, and comfortable initiating conversation with guests.
- Interest in gardening, conservation, and community engagement.
- Ability to share information in an engaging, accessible way for visitors of all ages.
- Willingness to assist with hands-on tasks in the garden when appropriate.
Impact: By serving as an Inspiration Garden Docent, you help visitors deepen their understanding of regenerative gardening, conservation, and the role of the Cibolo Center for Conservation in the community—while inspiring them to learn more, get involved, and take action.
