Surveys and Research - WFR Week - Water Snake/Reptile Survey
Reptile & Water Snake Survey
Description:
Community scientists search for reptiles under rocks, in tall grass, throughout the woodland, and in Cibolo Creek. Species observed include anoles, skinks, whiptails, ribbon snakes, blotched and diamondback water snakes, and many others.
Water snakes are caught when possible, pit-tagged, and released on Saturday. This survey helps researchers monitor the diversity, distribution, and health of the reptile population.

Closed-toed shoes or boots are recommended. You may also end up in the creek, so plan your clothing accordingly.
