Volunteer Opportunity: Vegetation Management Event

Event Title: Vegetation Management

Event Overview:
This vegetation management project focuses on improving safety, visibility, and overall aesthetics around buildings, fences, trails, and public areas. Volunteers will help clear overgrowth, protect infrastructure, and enhance the visual appeal of designated spaces, including the public parking lot.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Remove brush and small vegetation under 2 inches in diameter
  • Clear vegetation that is touching or encroaching on buildings, fences, and other structures
  • Assist with maintaining and protecting irrigation lines
  • Help create and enhance microhabitats to beautify plant exclosures in the public parking lot
  • Follow all guidance regarding protected species (e.g., live oaks will not be handled by volunteers)

Important Notes:

  • Live oak trees are excluded from volunteer work and will be handled by professionals
  • Volunteers should follow all safety instructions and use tools as directed
  • Awareness of surroundings and teamwork are essential for efficient and safe work

Skills & Requirements:

  • Ability to perform light to moderate physical labor outdoors
  • Willingness to work as part of a team
  • No prior experience required (training/instructions will be provided on-site)

  • Closed-toe shoes (required)
  • Weather-appropriate clothing
  • Reusable water bottle
  • Work gloves (if available; may also be provided)
