Are you passionate about wildlife, conservation, or resource management? The Shoreline Park Ranger District is seeking motivated young individuals to join our team as part of the Sea Lion Monitoring Program at Ellen Browning Scripps Park. This is your chance to make a difference for local wildlife and gain hands-on experience in a beautiful coastal setting!
About This Opportunity
- Assist with outreach, education, and data collection for our Sea Lion Monitoring Program.
- Staff an educational display with Park Rangers and volunteers to inform the public about sea lion protection and awareness.
- Help create engaging displays and educational materials.
- Answer questions from park visitors about local wildlife and the park itself.
- Collect critical data, including hourly counts of sea lions.
- Work under the guidance and mentorship of experienced Park Rangers.
Who We’re Looking For
- Friendly, outgoing individuals eager to become citizen scientists and Sea Lion experts.
- Coachable, dependable, and self-directed team members.
- Excellent communication and people skills; professional in appearance and well-spoken.
- Interest in wildlife conservation, biology, resource management, or pursuing a career as a Park Ranger is a plus!
Schedule & Details
- Combination of office and field work.
- Field work primarily on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays.
- Summer Hours: 11 a.m. – 7 p.m.
- Winter Hours: 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. (hours may vary with sunset schedule)
- Located at Ellen Browning Scripps Park, San Diego.
