The Art Gallery of New South Wales is seeking enthusiastic, curious and committed individuals to join our Volunteer Guide team.
As a Volunteer Guide, you will play a vital role in enriching the visitor experience—leading engaging tours, facilitating thoughtful discussions and helping audiences connect more deeply with works of art from across Australia and around the world.
Why become a Volunteer Guide?
- Be part of one of Australia’s leading cultural institutions
- Receive in-depth training in art history, interpretation and public engagement
- Develop public speaking and communication skills
- Join a vibrant, supportive community of fellow volunteers
- Enjoy ongoing learning opportunities, lectures and behind-the-scenes insights
What we’re looking for:
- A genuine interest in art and culture
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- A willingness to learn and participate in comprehensive training
- Availability to commit to regular guiding shifts
- An open, inclusive approach to engaging diverse audiences
Volunteer Guides contribute to tours for audiences across the Art Gallery’s historic Naala Nura building and contemporary Naala Badu building. Your voice could help shape someone’s first meaningful encounter with art.
