Over 500 Vancouver Coastal Health volunteers provide support each week in a variety of health settings all across the North Shore including acute care, community and residential care. Our volunteers are a diverse group of people over 16 years old, and includes university students, retirees, new Canadians and working professionals – all wanting to make a difference!

We work hard to match volunteers with roles that align with their personal and professional goals.

Our volunteers have the following qualities:

  • Willingness to volunteer consistent for a minimum 6 month
  • Communication and problem-solving skills
  • Willingness to learn, align and follow VCH policies and guidelines
  • Confidence and reliability
  • A positive attitude
  • Open-mindedness and flexibility
  • Patience and maturity
  • Eagerness to help
  • Qualities of maturity, reliability, punctuality, excellent communication skills, respectful, the ability to work independently, willingness to receive and apply constructive feedback
  • Ministry of Health requires that all staff and volunteers be fully vaccinated against COVID19 and provide proof of vaccination. 

 

We show appreciation to our volunteers by offering reference letters, leadership opportunities, and recognition events.
