Hymn Sing Leader - Prince of Peace (Calgary)

Hymn Sing Leaders help maintain the residents' love for hymns, increase fellowship with like-minded residents, and find encouragement and joy in music. It is very special to get to be a part of worship with our dear residents.
Job Description/Responsibilities:
Working in conjunction with Pastoral Care, the Volunteer will plan and execute the hymn sing program. This includes providing an opening prayer, leading hymn singing, read a few familiar Psalms, and a closing prayer (recognizable prayers such as the Lord’s Prayer are great too).
Times:
Thursdays from 9:00 am to 9:40 am we have a hymn sing on the East Harbour side, and then another hymn sing from 9:45 am to 10:30 am on the West Harbour side. The Harbour is a memory (dementia) care facility on the Prince of Peace Campus. This role can be weekly, bi-monthly, or monthly, depending on the volunteer's preference and availability.
Additional Information:
There is a piano on both sides that can be used, or volunteers are welcome to bring their own instrument. Hymn books will also be provided that don’t include music notes, but contain the lyrics to almost any hymn. Each side ranges from about 7 to 10 people per session.
It's a very relaxed environment, and little to no preparation is necessary, just a willingness to sing, talk, and pray.
