We're looking for compassionate volunteers to join our Pets at Rest team at the Wacol Animal Care Campus.
This meaningful role supports grieving pet owners by helping return their beloved pet's ashes and memorial items home to their family. As a Reunification Driver Volunteer, you'll play an important part in a family's farewell journey, providing a caring and professional service during a difficult time.

What are the tasks?
This role involves safely transporting and delivering pet ashes and memorial items while providing compassionate customer service to grieving families.
🚗 Driving throughout South East Queensland, including Brisbane, Ipswich, Gatton and the Gold Coast regions
📦 Safely transporting pet remains, ashes and memorial items for reunification with families
🏠 Completing deliveries to homes, veterinary clinics and other approved locations
🤝 Interacting with members of the public in a professional, compassionate and respectful manner
❤️ Providing a caring presence during what may be an emotional moment for families
📋 Following all Pets at Rest procedures to ensure accurate identification and delivery of pets and memorial items
📱 Using delivery schedules and communication tools to effectively manage deliveries throughout the day
✅ Representing Pets at Rest professionally while driving and engaging with the community
What skills and characteristics do I need?
✅ Compassionate, empathetic and emotionally mature
✅ Comfortable interacting with members of the public during emotionally sensitive situations
✅ Able to work independently and manage time effectively
✅ Comfortable driving for extended periods throughout a shift
✅ Hold a current full and unrestricted Queensland Driver Licence
✅ Respectful of privacy and confidentiality
When can I volunteer?
We are seeking reliable volunteers who can commit to a regular weekly shift to support the Pets at Rest team.
📅 Days Available: Monday - Friday
🕘 Shift Length: Minimum 4-hour commitment per shift
📍 Location: Wacol Animal Care Campus, with travel throughout South East Queensland
Important Reminders
Please note that this role involves interacting with families who may be experiencing grief following the loss of a beloved pet. Volunteers should be comfortable engaging compassionately with people during emotionally sensitive situations.
A significant amount of driving is required throughout each shift, and volunteers must be comfortable travelling across South East Queensland.
All training will be provided by the Pets at Rest team to ensure volunteers feel confident and supported in their role.
