Calling All Volunteers: City of San Diego Parks and Recreation is looking for enthusiastic volunteers to support I Love My Park Day – South Bay Recreation Center!

Celebrate “I Love My Park Day” in San Diego! 

Join the City of San Diego in celebrating the importance of our parks and open spaces. In partnership with the San Diego Parks Foundation, Parks and Recreation continues to provide equitable access, programs, and improvements across all neighborhoods.

“I Love My Park Day” is a chance to connect with nature, enjoy outdoor activities, and take pride in the spaces that make San Diego vibrant. Get outside, explore, and celebrate the parks that help our communities thrive!

Join us for a fun-filled community event featuring food, arts & crafts, a petting zoo, jumpers, and more, all while helping create a memorable day for local families.

Date: Saturday, May 23, 2026
Event Time: 11:00 AM – 2:00 PM
Location: Robert Egger, Sr., South Bay Recreation Center
1885 Coronado Avenue, San Diego, CA 92154

Volunteer Shifts Include:

• Set-Up: 8:00 AM – 11:00 AM
• Event Support: 11:00 AM – 2:00 PM
• Breakdown: 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM 

Volunteer Duties May Include:

• Setting up tables, chairs, and activity areas
• Monitoring event areas and litter control
• Assisting with vendor support and supply runs
• Helping with event breakdown and clean-up

*Some positions may require fingerprinting, which requires clearance prior to the event

Volunteer Requirements:

• Wear your volunteer staff shirt or safety vest

• Closed-toe shoes and comfortable clothing required

• Bring a water bottle, hat, and sunscreen (outdoor event)

• Check-in is required prior to your shift
