Thank you for your interest in volunteering with Hope Hospice. We are thrilled that you have taken the first step to becoming a member of our incredible program. No matter what your talents or interests, YOU can make a difference volunteering with hospice.
For over 40 years, Hope Hospice has provided exemplary care, comfort, and education to all affected by life-limiting illnesses, grief and loss. We believe that through sensitivity, appropriate care and support, terminally ill patients can begin to prepare for the inevitable challenges ahead. Hospice does not add days to lives; we add life to days.
There are a variety of volunteer opportunities available. Please take a moment to familiarize yourself with each before applying. There are photos with general information provided below.

How would you like to volunteer your time with Hope Hospice?
Thrift Shop Volunteers
Thrift Shop volunteers are an outgoing bunch of warm and loving people who thrive on interacting with others! These volunteers play a vital role in the daily operation of the shop. As a thrift shop volunteer, you may be accepting and/or processing donations, ringing up sales, or greeting and assisting customers to ensure a great shopping experience.
The money earned at our heavily volunteer based thrift shop helps support our mission. We believe that no one should face the end of life alone, and that compassionate care should never depend on the size of a bank account. We welcome all who qualify for our services, regardless of their ability to pay.
Administrative Volunteers

Administrative volunteers are the glue that holds operations together at Hope. Our office volunteers assist each department using their own unique set of skills. In this role, you may make phone calls, create thank you letters, help with filing/scanning, mailings, data entry, or running errands. No task is too great for our incredible Administrative volunteers.
Development Volunteers

Visionaries, creative minds, crafty hands, and resourceful thinking are always welcome! Some Development volunteers help design, craft, and decorate for Hope Hospice events such as our annual Gala while others help host a table at Tree of Lights. Some work in the office assisting with donations or providing data entry. Bottom line, these volunteers are all hands-on! If you’re looking for a fun way to donate your time, know that anything is possible here.
Grief Center Volunteers

If you are nurturing and compassionate, and enjoy working with adults and children alike, volunteering as a Hampel-Wuest Grief & Hope Center volunteer will allow you to work closely with licensed counselors who provide support to adults and children dealing with grief and loss. This support can include administrative help, assisting with grief groups/workshops, special events such as our annual memorial service, or attending a children's camp or family grief camp.
Honor Guard Volunteers

Hope Hospice Honor Guard volunteers are a group of honorably discharged US Veterans whose primary role is to support and honor the Veterans of Hope Hospice when called upon and available. The Hope Honors Veterans Program was designed to support, educate, and honor other Veterans on hospice and throughout our community.
Patient Care/Companionship Volunteers

As a patient care volunteer, your time with hospice patients may include keeping them company, holding their hand, reading a book together, singing, playing games, looking through photos or simply providing a comforting presence. Some patient care volunteers offer caregiver relief visits as well, these home visits provide the patient’s primary caregiver a two-hour respite. Volunteers CANNOT provide “hands-on" medical care such as bathing, dressing, transferring, feeding or administering medications.
11th Hour Volunteers

Hope embraces the power of being “present.” Based on the precept that no one has to die alone, our 11th-hour volunteers are specially trained to sit with someone during the final days/hours of their life. These volunteers bring peace and emotional comfort to our patients while providing support and reassurance to their families.
