RHS Garden Wisley currently has a couple of exciting volunteering opportunities to join the Woodland Ornamental Team to assist with the maintenance of several areas. The Woodland team look after Battleston Hill, a large woodland garden, home to collections of Rhododendron, Azalea, Camellia, Magnolia and Hydrangea as well as many other choice shrubs and layers of woodland underplanting. They also care for the Mediterranean Terrace, Clear Lake, the Wildlife garden and Jubilee arboretum.

Applicants should have a passion for horticulture and gardening, the role will focus on weeding, mulching and watering  and applicants should have a reasonable level of fitness (garden tasks can be physically demanding).

Wildlife Garden Volunteer

We ask that Garden Volunteers give a commitment of 6 hours (from 10am to 4pm) volunteering including a lunch break per week on a regular basis, and for this role be available on a Wednesday.  We do, of course, understand that life will sometimes get in the way, but it is important that applicants think about how much time they can realistically spend with us before completing the application.

We would particularly welcome applications from people aged 18 to 25 years old, as we are currently under-represented for this age group. We are also committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and adults at risk and expect all volunteers to share this commitment.
