Thank you for your interest in volunteering with the RHS. All our current volunteering opportunities are listed below so please take a look at the role descriptions. If you can’t find a particular role that you are looking for, it means that there aren’t any vacancies at present.

Our Current Volunteering Opportunities

Seasonal Herbaceous Volunteers

Do you have a passion for plants and horticulture? Why not help the UK’s leading gardening charity based in the beautiful setting of RHS Garden Wisley in Surrey?

 

RHS Garden Wisley currently has an exciting volunteering opportunity in the Herbaceous Team to assist with the maintenance over the summer season. Tasks will include watering, weeding, edging, dead and general maintenance . You will also interact with our many visitors and act as ambassadors for the charitable work of the RHS.

 

Applicants should have a passion for horticulture and gardening, enjoy working in an outdoor situation and be reasonably physically fit (garden tasks can be physically demanding).  

 

There are several different days of the week and timings offered, so please make sure you apply for the applicable role. They are:

Seasonal Herbaceous Volunteer 

We ask that Garden Volunteers give a commitment of 5 hours weekly volunteering including a lunch break per week on a regular basis.  We do, of course, understand that life will sometimes get in the way, but it is important that applicants think about how much time they can realistically spend with us before completing the application.

 

Places are extremely limited, not all applicants will be able to join us.

Woodland Volunteer

 

 

Do you have a passion for plants and horticulture? Why not help the UK’s leading gardening charity based in the beautiful setting of RHS Garden Wisley?

 

RHS Garden Wisley currently has a couple of exciting volunteering opportunities to join the Woodland Ornamental Team to assist with the maintenance of several areas. The Woodland team look after Battleston Hill, a large woodland garden, home to collections of Rhododendron, Azalea, Camellia, Magnolia and Hydrangea as well as many other choice shrubs and layers of woodland underplanting. They also care for the Mediterranean Terrace, Clear Lake, the Wildlife garden and Jubilee arboretum. 

 

Applicants should have a passion for horticulture and gardening, the role will focus on weeding, mulching and watering  and applicants should have a reasonable level of fitness (garden tasks can be physically demanding).

Battleston Hill Volunteer - seasonal role 

 

Wildlife Garden Volunteer 

 

We ask that Garden Volunteers give a commitment of 6 hours (from 10am to 4pm) volunteering including a lunch break per week on a regular basis, and for this role be available on a Wednesday.  We do, of course, understand that life will sometimes get in the way, but it is important that applicants think about how much time they can realistically spend with us before completing the application.

 

Places are extremely limited, not all applicants will be able to join us.

 

We are committed to being an inclusive recruiter and welcome applicants from all backgrounds. We would particularly welcome applications from people aged 18 to 25 years old, as we are currently under-represented for this age group. We are also committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and adults at risk and expect all volunteers to share this commitment.
