Reports to: Outreach and Education Engagement Coordinator

Hours per Week: up to 15

Hybrid Work Environment: In-person (75235 zip code area), with opportunities for remote/WFH.  

Compensation: Upon completion of the internships, interns will receive a certificate of completion, a letter of recommendation (upon request), and any academic credits being awarded by your university. 

 

Summary:

Dallas Hope Charities (DHC) is seeking a personable and resourceful intern who can help us further our community education and engagement efforts. Under the advisement of the Outreach and Education Engagement Manager, you will support our Collective Hope Coalition, Safe Place, Hopeful Discussions, and Community Engagement initiatives. You may also have the opportunity to assist with event planning, community engagement and administrative projects. In turn, we hope to elevate your professional expertise by connecting you with our staff, community partners, community events, and professional development workshops. 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist with Coalition projects and events (including meetings, mixers, workshops, and resource fairs)

  • Assist with developing and facilitating Hopeful Discussions workshops

  • Support Safe Place program projects and events

  • Support DHC engagement through tabling, presentations, and community events

  • Assist with fundraisers and other events hosted by DHC

  • Coordinate professional development opportunities such as workshops and mixers

  • Building knowledge of local LGBTQIA+ affirming organizations to assist with community outreach

  • Assist with some data entry tasks

  • Complete other tasks as assigned

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Proficiency in the following computer software is strongly preferred: Google Drive, Google Calendar, Google Meet/Zoom, and Canva

  • Strong public speaking and communication skills

  • Resourceful, innovative, and creative with strong critical thinking

  • Networking capabilities. A people person that can get along with individuals from all walks of life

  • REQUIRED: Basic knowledge of LGBTQIA+ identities, allyship, homelessness, and social inequality and/or open to learning

  • REQUIRED: at minimum, applicant must be a rising junior in college

 

Physical Demands: Occasional lifting, standing, and sitting for long periods of time. Accommodations can be made upon request.
