Summary: Join Dallas Hope Charities, in partnership with Housing Forward and the All Neighbors Coalition, for the 2026 Point-in-Time (PIT) Count. This annual census is a federal requirement that helps our community understand the extent of homelessness, identify changing trends, and secure vital funding.

As DHC volunteers, we know that LGBTQIA+ young adults are often hidden within these numbers. By helping us ensure an accurate, dignified count, you are directly supporting our mission of instilling dignity, stability, and hope for LGBTQIA+ young adults by ensuring they are seen, counted, and resourced.

Hope Dealer Shifts

PIT Count Volunteer
Time: 7:00 PM – 12:00 AM (estimate)

We are recruiting community volunteers to join a DHC team. Please register through the link HERE and make sure to put "Hope Dealer" as your team name. 

  1. Community Volunteer: You will join a team of 3-5 people (including an experienced lead) to canvas assigned zones.

Requirements

  • Availability: Must be available for the full duration of the count (approx. 4 hours).

  • Traits: Compassionate, non-judgmental, observant, and patient.

  • Physical (Community Volunteers): Comfortable walking and standing for extended periods outdoors in January weather.

  • Training: All volunteers must complete the 2026 PIT Count Training (Dates TBA) prior to the event.

  • Dress Code: Blue DHC t-shirt (provided at volunteer check-in if you haven’t received one), warm layers (dress for freezing temps!), and comfortable closed-toed walking shoes.

Additional Info

  • Registering: You can register for the PIT count through Housing Forward's website link HERE.  
  • Training Video: Once registered, you will receive a training video in January to complete. 
  • Volunteer Groups: If you are signing up with a group of friends or colleagues (teams of 3-5), please make sure to put "Hope Dealers" as your team name. 

  • Parking: Specific meeting locations and parking details will be communicated closer to the event date.

  • Log Hours & Check-In/Out: Volunteers will check in/out via our Timeclock link HERE

  • Cancellations: Please notify your volunteer lead immediately if unable to attend, as teams depend on specific head counts for safety.

  • Liability Waiver: All Hope Dealers must complete the volunteer agreement HERE prior to any volunteer activity and upload a copy under Additional Information in your volunteer profile.

Qualifications Required

  • Hope Dealer Handbook Must be I have read and ACCEPT all terms & condition within the Hope Dealer Handbook.
  • Release of Liability Agreement Must be Signed
