Black Tie Dinner - 2026 Black Tie Dinner

🌟 Black Tie Dinner 2026 – Volunteer Information

Since its inception in 1982, Black Tie Dinner has been the largest fundraising dinner for the LGBTQIA+ community in the nation. Each year, Black Tie Dinner selects North Texas beneficiaries to receive dinner proceeds alongside its national beneficiary, the Human Rights Campaign Foundation.

📊 Volunteer Goal Progress Update

To meet our beneficiary requirements and receive full funding distribution from Black Tie Dinner, we need to hit specific volunteer shift targets. Here is where we currently stand:

  • Overall Goal: 20.0 / 25.0 total volunteer hours filled
  • 🎯 Saturday Evening (Nov 14) Goal: 9.5 / 15.0 hours committed
  • 🎯 Sunday Morning (Nov 15) Goal: 1 / 1 shift filled

⚠️ We urgently need volunteers for Saturday evening (PM) and Sunday morning (AM)! Please prioritize registering for these shifts first to help us secure our required beneficiary quota.

🚨 Priority Beneficiary Requirement

As a returning beneficiary, Dallas Hope Charities is required to fulfill specific shifts during Dinner Weekend to meet our organizational quota and ensure full funding distribution:

  • 🎯 Saturday PM & Sunday AM Shifts (Our Primary Goal): We need 15 total volunteer hours on Saturday evening (Nov 14) and at least 1 shift on Sunday morning (Nov 15).

➕ Additional Volunteer Opportunities

If you are unable to cover a Saturday PM or Sunday AM shift, please consider supporting DHC by signing up for one of these additional options:

👔 Dress Code Guidelines

Please note that dress code requirements vary by shift type:

  • 👔 Saturday Evening Main Shifts & Volunteer Lead Roles:

Business Casual / Dressy: Black dress pants or skirts with a white button-down shirt, blouse, or top.

(🚫 No t-shirts or polo shirts permitted for Saturday evening main shifts or lead roles.)
  • 👕 Friday Setup & Saturday Morning AM Setup Shifts:

Casual & Comfortable: Casual clothes and comfortable shoes. We strongly encourage you to wear a Dallas Hope Charities T-shirt to represent DHC proudly!

📋 General Volunteer Information

  • Affiliation: When signing up on Sign-Up Genius, enter “Dallas Hope Charities” when prompted:

“If you are affiliated with a Black Tie Dinner beneficiary, sponsor, or other volunteer group, please type the organization/group you are affiliated with below.”
  • Physical Requirements: Most shifts require volunteers to stand and move around for the full duration of their shift.

(Note: Mobility- and stimulation-friendly shifts are available on a limited basis—please reserve these for volunteers who require accommodations.)
  • Parking: Rideshare services are strongly recommended as hotel parking at the Sheraton Dallas may be limited or costly. Nearby surface lots ($10–$15) and SpotHero garage options are good alternatives.
  • Tracking Your Hours: Once registered, forward your confirmation email to Ciera Oates at coates@dallashopecharities.org so we can track committed hours toward our beneficiary goal.

🚫 Important Policy Reminders

  • Do not hold shifts: Only sign up for shifts you are 100% committed to attending. Unconfirmed placeholder sign-ups will be removed.
  • Guests vs. Volunteers: Volunteers cannot hold a shift while attending the dinner as a guest.
  • Cancellations: If you must cancel, email volunteer@blacktie.org or corela@blacktie.org and CC coates@dallashopecharities.org as soon as possible so the shift can be reassigned.
