Volunteer Role: Digital Community Moderator & Specialist

Date/Time: Project-based. Initial setup followed by an ongoing, flexible maintenance schedule.

Summary:

Dallas Hope Charities is launching a Discord server to create a safe, self-sustained online community for our young adults (ages 18–24). We are seeking a tech-savvy volunteer to design the server architecture, implement essential safety and moderation protocols, and establish community guidelines. This role is vital in helping us foster connection, peer support, and engagement in a secure digital space tailored to the needs of the LGBTQIA+ community we serve.

Role Description:

• Discord Proficiency: Deep understanding of Discord server architecture, roles, permission structures, and bot integration.
• Safety Focus: Experience in implementing moderation tools and safety protocols to protect participants from harassment or malicious content.
• Commitment Level: Initial setup phase (2–4 weeks), followed by ongoing support/moderation as mutually agreed upon.
• Aligned Values: Demonstrated understanding and respect for the unique challenges faced by LGBTQIA+ young adults.
• Communication: Ability to clearly explain server maintenance and moderation tasks to staff.
• Background Check: All volunteers must undergo a standard background check to ensure a safe and secure environment for all participants.

Qualifications:

• Proven experience setting up and moderating Discord servers or similar digital community platforms.
• Strong understanding of digital safety, moderation best practices, and community management.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Reliable and committed to maintaining a safe digital environment.
• Signed Confidentiality Agreement.
