PA VGC - Event Traffic Marshal
PA VGC Event Traffic Marshals are tasked with basic traffic control duties at the PAGC in low risk road environments, to ensure safe passage to both vehicles and the general public.
There is extremely limited volumes of traffic as it is only the residents who live on the esplanade that will occasionally come and go during the day. Other than this, you are just to ensure that our patrons are remaining safe as they walk in these areas. This interaction with our patrons is an important aspect to the role. As you are the "front line" for our event, you will be the first contact our patrons will have with the event as they pass your post. At all times you should be friendly and polite and assist any patrons with any questions they may have.
These ETM roles on a rotational basis during the day with 2 hours on and 2 hours off and then their final shift being 1 hour. This will ensure we cover the positions required from 7am to 5pm each day and still meet the Queensland Government regulations for time limits with these roles. Team A will be on duty from 7am to 9am, 11am to 1.00pm, 3pm to 4pm. Team B will be on duty from 9am to 11am, 1pm to 3.00pm, 4pm to 5pm. When you are not rostered on duty, you are permitted to attend the event and spectate in any GA (non-reserved) area. When spectating, you must ensure you are not wearing your PA Volunteer Ground Crew shirt. If you wish to assist another area whilst not on ETM duty, speak with your Crew Leader who can arrange this with any area that requires assistance.
Event Traffic Marshals will be required to successfully complete the online ETM Training Program prior to the event. This training program will certify that the PA VGC is authorised to perform the duties of the ETM for the days of the event only (not prior to or in the days after the event). Safety equipment (safety vest/signage/stop-slow bat etc) will be provided by PAGC to enable each ETM to perform their required duties.
Persons wishing to undertake this role must have good vision and hearing. You must have sufficient mobility to move quickly out of the path of a moving vehicle that does not stop or slow as directed. You must be capable of maintaining focus and concentration and be able to stand for up to 2 hours while directing traffic using a handheld stop-slow bat. You must maintain a 'zero percent' blood alcohol concentration while performing ETM duties.
