Eyes Ears Nose and Paws

These shifts are entered as a Warren pick-up, and as a Warren drop-off, there will be 2 transport volunteers/cars each way. If you are able to do both shifts that would be amazing but we are fine with a volunteer only taking one leg of the trip if that works best for you! 

Pick up 3 dogs (each volunteer car) from our ABEL program at Warren Correctional Institution and take the dogs to a health clinic at the Durham Kennel Club. Wait 30-60 minutes for the dogs to get radiographs and then return the dogs to ABEL (it will likely take less than 60 minutes but could take up to that long). You do not enter the prison -- a facility staff member will meet you in the parking lot or at the gatehouse to switch dogs and supplies.

AM Shift
1:45pm: Pick up at Warren Correctional Institution: 379 Collins Rd, Manson, NC 27553
3pm: Arrive Health Clinic: Durham Kennel Club, 7318 Guess Rd, Durham, NC 27712 (leave approx 3:15 pm)

PM Shift
3:45pm Arrive Health Clinic for pick-up: Durham Kennel Club, 7318 Guess Rd, Durham, NC 27712 
by 5:30pm (arrival): Return to Warren Correctional Institution: 379 Collins Rd, Manson, NC 27553

Other details:

• An EENP vehicle is available for use for this transport but please let us know when you sign up if you would like to use it so we can have it ready.
• Volunteer doing transport will need to pass the Canine Care & Safety quiz if not already qualified. The quiz is not difficult!

If you can commit to the transport, please sign up! If sign up is not available to you, that may be because you do not have a current Canine Care & Safety certification. In that case please reach out to us so we can get you qualified and sign you up on our end.
