Free Breakfast Volunteer
Volunteer Role: Free Breakfast
Volunteer Supervisor: Support Services Coordinator
Volunteer Term: September through April
Expected Hours: 1 hour shifts
Position Summary:
The Free Breakfast Volunteers perform a variety of in-center tasks designed to support the free breakfast program. This includes:

Providing a welcoming presence in the centre, answering questions and directing students

Helping set out various breakfast food packages on the tables then replenishing as needed
-
Restocking coffee/tea stations and other food items if the stock is available
-
Encouraging positive behaviours in a constructive way, such as reminding students to clean up after themselves

Assisting visitors with food services including free breakfast & Care Cupboard care packages

Completing administrative work as required

Maintaining a clean and organized centre
Position Requirements:
In addition to meeting and maintaining the Students’ Association of Mount Royal University’s volunteer standards, the volunteers:
- Must present a clean and welcoming appearance and a friendly manner;
- Must be dependable and punctual;
- Must be courteous and personable when dealing with centre users and the public;
- Must respect and maintain confidentiality of SAMRU and any users, volunteers, and partners;
Onboarding and Training Requirements include:
- Completion of basic orientation program.
- Completing the Support Centre orientation program which includes training on the following items:
- Specific training from volunteer supervisor
- Lisitening to Refer when available
Evaluation:

Volunteer supervisor will perform an evaluation of this role after 60 days of required training.
Time Commitment:

Minimum 1 hours per week.
Bread Support Volunteer
Volunteer Role: Bread Support
Volunteer Supervisor: Support Services Coordinator
Volunteer Term: Year-round - closed on stat holidays
Expected Hours: 2-hour shifts
Position Summary:
The Bread Support Volunteers perform a variety of in-center tasks designed to support the Free Bread program. This includes:

Providing a welcoming presence in the centre, answering questions and directing students

Loading and unloading bins of bread

Encouraging positive behaviours in a constructive way, such as reminding students to take the required amount of bread

Cutting and bagging loose bread in a clean process

Cleaning inside and outside of bread bins, stacking them on the bread cart before leaving

Completing administrative work including evaluative record-keeping as required
-
Maintaining a clean and organized work space
Onboarding and Training Requirements include:
- Completion of basic orientation program.
- Completing Specific training from volunteer supervisor
Evaluation:

Volunteer supervisor will perform an evaluation of this role after 60 days of required training.
