Volunteer Role: Pride In-Centre and Events Volunteer

Volunteer Supervisor: Pride and Healthy Relationships Coordinator

Volunteer Term: Weekly day to day, during weekly programming, and as needed during larger Pride Centre SAMRU events and other on-campus tabling opportunities throughout the year. 

Expected Hours: 1-3 hour shifts

Position Summary:

Pride Ambassador Volunteer assists both the Pride Coordinator during weekly (Wellness Wind Down and Crafternoon) and monthly programming (QTBIPOC Circle and Get Aqtive). As well as during larger events such Sex Toy Bingo, Transgender Day of Remembrance, Gender Bender, and other on-campus tabling opportunities that involve the Pride Centre. They may also support tabling opportunities throughout the year. Tasks include:

• Providing a welcoming and non-judgemental presence at tabling opportunities; answering questions, and responding to student inquiries on Pride Centre programming. 
• Support Pride Administrators in referring students to proper on and off campus resources.
• Re-stocking prophylactics, brochures, pronoun pins, and other resources as needed. 
• Assist in set up and take down of Pride Centre booth tabling

Position Requirements:

In addition to meeting and maintaining the Students’ Association of Mount Royal University’s volunteer standards, the Pride Ambassador Volunteers: 

• Must be apart of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community or a strong ally 
• Familiarity of Pride Centre Programming (must have at least attended one or more of Pride’s weekly programming)
• Must be courteous and personable when dealing with other students and the public;
• Must respect and maintain confidentiality of SAMRU and any users, volunteers, and partners;

Completing the Support Centre orientation program which includes training on the following

Items:

• Completion of basic orientation program.
