Volunteer Role: Tax Clinic Volunteer
Volunteer Supervisor: Volunteer & Support Centre Coordinator
Volunteer Term: February - April
Expected Hours: 2 hour shifts
Position Summary:
This is the annual free tax clinic SAMRU organizes in partnership with the CRA’s Community Volunteer Income Tax Program (CVITP). Our free tax clinic usually runs from March to April.
The Tax Clinic Volunteers perform a variety of tasks to support the SAMRU Tax Clinic Program. This includes:

Providing a welcoming presence and answering questions

Preparing tax returns for clients

Filing tax returns
-
Maintaining a clean and organized tax room
Position Requirements:
In addition to meeting and maintaining the Students’ Association of Mount Royal University’s volunteer standards, the volunteers:

Must present a welcoming appearance and a friendly manner

Must be dependable and punctual
-
Must be courteous and personable when dealing with students and the public
-
Must respect and maintain confidentiality of SAMRU and any users, volunteers, and partners
Onboarding and Training Requirements include:

Completing the general SAMRU volunteer orientation program
-
Completing the tax clinic orientation which includes the following items:
-
Tax clinic training
-
CVITP registration
-
REPID number registration
-
EFILE number application
-
Evaluation:
-
Volunteer supervisor will perform an evaluation of this role after 1-2 shifts..
Time Commitment:
-
Minimum 2 hours per week (1 shift/week)
