Care Cupboard Volunteer
Volunteer Role: Care Cupboard Support
Volunteer Supervisor: Volunteer & Support Services Coordinator
Volunteer Term: Year-round - closed on stat holidays
Expected Hours: 1-hour shifts
Position Summary:
The Care Cupboard Volunteers perform a variety of tasks designed to support the new Care cupboard program. This includes:
- Counting food items and preparing storage bins
- Loading cart with products that will be distributed into the cupboards
- Completing miscellaneous work; cardboard recycling, stocking shelves
- Maintaining a clean and organized storage space
Position Requirements:
In addition to meeting and maintaining the Students’ Association of Mount Royal University’s volunteer standards, the volunteers:
- Must present a clean and welcoming appearance and a friendly manner;
- Must be dependable and punctual;
- Must respect and maintain confidentiality of SAMRU and any users, volunteers, and partners;
Onboarding and Training Requirements include:

- Completion of basic orientation program.
- Specific training from volunteer supervisor
Evaluation:

Volunteer supervisor will perform an evaluation of this role after 60 days of required training.
Time Commitment:

Minimum 1 hours per week.
Stress Less Volunteer
Volunteer Role: Stress Less
Volunteer Supervisor: Clubs & Events Coordinator
Volunteer Term: Seasonal - December & April
Expected Hours: Varies
Position Summary:
During exam time, MRU students need a break and a reminder to take care of their well-being. Helping students take a break improves their focus, their concentration, and relieves stress. Every fall and winter semester, SAMRU organizes stress less programs to help students. The Stress Less Volunteers perform a variety of in-centre tasks designed to support the program. This includes:
- Providing a welcoming presence, answering questions and directing students
- Managing the capacity in space where necessary, i.e making sure spaces are not too crowded
- Handing out food to students waiting to write exams/studying for exams.
- Completing administrative work including evaluative record-keeping as required
- Maintaining a clean and organized space
- Support programs facilitators as needed
Onboarding and Training Requirements include:
- Completion of basic orientation program.
- Specific training is given by volunteer supervisors on the day of shift.

Mobile Grocery Store Volunteer
Volunteer Role: Mobile Grocery Store Support
Volunteer Supervisor: Volunteer & Support Services Coordinator
Volunteer Term: Fall & Winter Semester - closed on stat holidays & during exams
Expected Hours: 1-hour shifts
Position Summary:
The Mobile Grocery Store Volunteers perform a variety of tasks designed to support the mobile grocery store on campus. This may include:
- Setting up the store (requires pushing/pulling of food on carts)
- Working the point of sale (POS) equipment
- Providing customer service
- Restocking food as required
- Completing administrative work
- Maintaining clean and organized displays
- Tearing down the store (requires pushing/pulling of food on carts)
Position Requirements:
