Gardens of Golden Gate Park

Accepting new volunteers as space is available. For your first assignment, meet the group at the Library Terrace located within the San Francisco Botanical Garden. 

Help maintain the San Francisco Botanical Garden! This Green Team session is designed for new Botanical Garden horticulture volunteers. Once you complete the first session successfully, you can begin registering for additional volunteer days available each week on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 9:30am-12:30pm. Please note Green Team schedules may alter due to conditions that day or staff availability. 

No experience needed. 

How to prepare:

• Wear long pants and sturdy, closed-toed shoes
• Bring a water bottle. Water fountains to replenish your water bottle are available near the restrooms
• Bring snacks if you wish, but have them wrapped up - there are squirrels at the Gardens.
• Bring your own gardening gloves or borrow some from the Gardens.
• Dress for the weather: hat, sunscreen, layers, etc.
• If you have a hand trowel or hori-hori, you may bring it to use in the Garden. 
• Be prepared to wear gloves and appropriate safety gear (ie safety glasses, if your horticulturist advises)
• Plan to have fun, help your team, and follow the horticulturist's instructions. If you are unsure, ask questions!
