As a Library Reception Volunteer, you will:

  • Welcome library visitors at the front reception desk.

  • During your assignment, you are welcome to read, study, and use the computer or bring your laptop.

Current Openings: We are currently accepting new volunteers on a rolling basis.

How to Register: Register for your first assignment in the system and remember to mark your calendar. Training will be provided on your first day, and it will be a continuous learning experience. No prior experience required.

  • Be an ambassador of the Gardens by embodying our mission to connect people to plants, the planet, and each other and represent our values: Everybody’s Garden; Stewardship; Experience and Enjoyment; Education and Engagement; Excellence; along with Partnership and Collaboration.

We Are Seeking Volunteers Who Are:

Current Openings: We are currently accepting new volunteers on a rolling basis.

Registration and Training: Register for your first assignment in the system and remember to mark your calendar. Direction will be provided at the start of your assignment regarding the focus for that particular event or program. Depending on the scope and scale of the event, additional materials may be shared prior to your assignment through training, a phone call, or pre-event reading materials.

As a Public Program or Event Volunteer, you will:

· Assist Gardens staff during programs and events at the Gardens. This may include helping with set up, wayfinding, greeting, ushering, or take down. Each assignment listed will include additional details regarding the specific duties the team will need assistance with.

Time commitment: Events and programs may vary in their frequency and schedule, so the most important aspect is to ensure that you are able to commit to the time that you register for. If you realize you are unable to volunteer for an event, please cancel your registration with advance notice to allow an alternate to register for your spot.

Schedule: The schedule varies depending on the type of event and program. Assignments may be as short as one-hour, or as long as four.

Bean Sprouts Family Days Volunteer

Child and Adult Gardening

Bean Sprouts Family Days invites families with children of all ages to enjoy the Garden for special programming in the Children's Garden.

Bean Sprouts is open again!

Rover

Volunteers rove in the Conservatory of Flowers and San Francisco Botanical Garden, engaging with visitors, answering questions, and sharing what is in bloom.

Rovers are part of our interpretive community and focus on a specific way of engaging with visitors, roving within a Garden to help answer questions and direct visitors to features in the collection.
