2026 Magnificent Magnolias - Magnificent Magnolia Program Volunteer
Help us during a full week of Magnificent Magnolia Programming (February 14-22)! Magnolia Program Volunteers help our Program staff connect visitors with our Magnolia Collection through engaging and informative activities and events.
A Day as a Magnificent Magnolia Program Volunteer:
- Help visitors with wayfinding by providing directions to Magnolia blooms, amenities, Magnificent Magnolia programs, and interpretive signage.
- Engage with visitors with hands-on activities in the Library Terrace (near Main Gate Entrance)
- Share how visitors can continue to support and connect with the Gardens by volunteering, becoming a member or donating (share applicable QR codes or direct visitors to a nearby donation box).
About You: As a volunteer of the Gardens of Golden Gate Park, you enjoy connecting people to plants, the planet, and each other. Program Volunteers actively welcome and engage with our visitors during this event and help set the tone for a positive experience at the Gardens. As a Program Volunteer, you feel comfortable advising visitors on how to navigate the Garden and enjoy speaking with new people eager to enjoy Magnificent Magnolias.
Location: As a Magnificent Magnolia Program Volunteer, you will be situated at in the Library Terrace with fellow volunteers and staff. This is located near the Main Gate of the San Francisco Botanical Garden. While it is next to the Library, the programs and volunteering will take place outdoors.
How to prepare:
- View the slide deck for our 2026 Overview of Magnificent Magnolias*, a copy of the 15 min. presentation is posted on YouTube and below.
- No alcoholic beverages are allowed before or during your assignment
- Only bring what you can carry; there is no place for secure storage.
- Bring a refillable water bottle that you feel comfortable bringing with you.
- If you're still becoming familiar with the Botanical Garden's layout, spend some time walking in the Garden as a visitor or volunteering in another capacity - and read our new Magnificent Magnolia signage* throughout the Botanical Garden.
To register:
- Current, active Gardens of Golden Gate Park volunteers may register for an assignment through Better Impact.
- Returning Gardens volunteers who have not yet created a Better Impact account, should complete an Individual Registration form.
- New volunteers should complete an application form by completing the Individual Registration. You will need to complete a virtual or in-person training prior to volunteering. Please note that if you're not familiar with wayfinding and the layout of the Gardens, there is still time to learn more, please see suggestions on How to prepare shared above.
*These materials are only visible within Better Impact to active/accepted volunteers. When you first register, you may not be able to see the materials until your status changes.
