Hospice

Volunteers are vital members of the hospice interdisciplinary team. People are called to this service for a variety of reason.  Some want to give back to the community, some believe in the hospice mission, others have been personally impacted by the warmth of hospice care at a difficult time in their loved one’s life.  Students going into the medical field learn how to nurture patients and families at the end-of-life journey.  Something you can’t learn from a textbook.  Whatever the motives, our Hospice Volunteers are greatly appreciated by staff, patients and families.  After a free comprehensive volunteer training, you may decide on the type of volunteering you are interested in and how much time you want to give to hospice.  Some of the services hospice volunteers provide are:

  • Companionship
  • Respite for the caregiver
  • Visits to patients at nursing facilities or care homes
  • Reading, music, card games, crafts, prayer
  • Massage Therapy
  • Healing Touch
  • Gentle Touch
  • Pet Therapy
  • Bereavement Support

If you are feeling the calling to serve as a Hospice volunteer, we can find a special place for you based on your availability.
