Paddling - Kayaking Program - Bow Valley
General Program Information
This multi-week program has a trained RMA kayak instructor teaching our participants the basics of kayaking in a group setting.
This program is being offered as a Multi-Week program with recurring program dates on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. While we encourage volunteers to sign up for all sessions of this multi-week program, this is not mandatory so please feel free to sign up for just one day if it works for you! Feel free to sign up for half days or full days.
This Opportunity
Volunteers will be paired with a participant, to assist them getting into/out of the kayak, follow demonstrations, and have fun! Before and after the program starts, volunteers will be asked to help set up and pack down equipment. For safety reasons, all volunteers must be able to swim and roll onto their back and float while wearing a life jacket.
This opportunity is not for a specific participant, and volunteers will be paired up with participants on the day, and pairings may change as needed.
- Location: Lessons locations will change week to week, but may be located at the Rundle Forebay, Gap Lake, and Two Jack Lake. Locations will be confirmed at least 48 hours before the activity date.
- What to Wear/Bring: Bear spray, bathing suit, towel, clothing that can get wet, hat, water bottle, lunch/snack (no nuts), sunscreen, and anything else you need for time on the water.
- What’s Provided: Kayak, paddle, kayak adaptations, PFD. Please note, participants get priority on equipment. You may bring your own equipment, if preferred.
