Training - Volunteer Training: Paddle Sports

This training session covers everything you need to know to volunteer with our paddle sport activities. By the end of this training session, volunteers should be familiar with the setup, take-down, and adjustments available with our paddle sport equipment. Volunteers will have a chance to be hands on with adaptive equipment, with everyone sitting in a kayak spending time on water.

Volunteers should have experience in paddlesports, ideally in a kayak, and will be required to spend time on the water during this training session. Volunteers must be able to swim independently, roll onto their backs, and float while wearing a life jacket to participate in any paddle sport training.

  • Location: Paddle sport training takes place at the Rundle Forebay Reservoir in Canmore, directly across from the Nordic Centre.
  • What to Wear/Bring: Volunteers are required to bring everything they need for a few hours on the water.  This includes sunscreen, bug spray, water bottles, snacks, sunglasses, bathing suit, towel, and if available bear spray.
  • What’s Provided: RMA will provide a variety of kayaks, canoes, and PFD's (available equipment may vary depending on other program needs).

Additional details (confirmation of time, exact meeting location) will be sent out 2-3 days before the activity date. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact volunteer@rockymountainadaptive.com
