Fundraiser: ShredAbility - Challenge Area Coordinator
General Event Information
ShredAbility is one of RMA's annual fundraisers - teams of 2-4 members compete in a fun all-mountain ski and snowboard scavenger hunt, featuring adaptive challenges, and prizes! The day includes both lunch and a lift ticket. There are volunteer opportunities in a variety of areas - with participants, general on-snow, and coordination roles.
***Pre-Event Meeting: Date - Tuesday April 7th, at the RMA Office in Canmore. There will be snacks provided, virtual attendance is an option for those not able to attend in person. If you are not able to make this meeting, please email volunteer@rockymountainadaptive.com
This Opportunity
This is an outdoor role, so please where warm clothes! These volunteers should be ready to ski or snowboard to and from their locations. There are three different challenge areas located on different parts of the mountain. They are generally located in flat areas. Participants will solve clues and find their way to these challenge areas, where they will have to complete a specific adaptive challenge. They will be timed to complete the event, and the fastest of each area will win a prize.
After checking in, Challenge Area Volunteers will meet at the RMA shed to go over the details of the challenge area. Nearer the time, volunteers will be assigned a particular one of the three challenge areas. Volunteers will be provided with a clipboard on which to log times and notes on all participants when they complete the challenge! If possible, please bring a watch/phone that have has a timer, so that you will be able to time each team from point A to point B. You may add extra points for spirit and ingenuity!
Challenge Areas will aim to close at 2:00pm, upon which volunteers may head to the prize giving and wrap up. Volunteers should give clipboards with all timings to the ShredAbility judge & race timer. If all participants have completed the challenge area before 2:00pm, challenge areas may close early.
Lunch and a lift ticket is provided for this Volunteer Role.
