Training - Alpine Vision Impairment Activity Training

A small amount of our participants will be visually impaired in some way. During this training, volunteers will both be able to experience what it is like as a VI skier or snowboarder, plus gets tips and practice on guiding others who are visually impaired.

It is highly recommended that volunteers attend the Alpine Stand-up Training before attending this specific session. This training will take an in depth look at guiding a participant with a visual impairment. There will be more information in this session about VI than our regular stand-up ski training, and will cover some of the equipment and tools that were not shown in the first session. This training would be suitable for anyone who is interested in in doing more volunteering with Visually Impaired participants this season!

We ask that all volunteers who attend training are comfortable managing their speed and turning on blue runs, as well as loading/unloading chairlifts without assistance. If you are a skier we highly recommend the ability to parallel ski. For snowboarding, the ability to turn on your heelside and toeside is highly recommended.
