Community Events
Twin Cities PBS is proud to host multiple community events each year. Some events are those that we host every year, such as “Be My Neighbor Day,” which is a celebration of Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood, and hosting a family area at the Twin Cities Jazz Festival. Others only happen one time, but are just as impactful, such as the premiere party for Skillsville, a Twin Cities PBS-produced children’s program, as well as “Alma’s Way: Explore Your City,” an event hosted in partnership with local transit partners to celebrate the PBS KIDS show, Alma’s Way.
None of these events would be possible without the hard work of our volunteers. Your dedication allows us to welcome more than 2,000 guests to community events each year!
Typical Volunteer Roles:
- Check-In Table: Volunteers greet guests and check them in using iPads. They explain the activities for the event, provide any relevant information, and answer questions as needed.
- Activity Attendant: Volunteers are assigned an activity to manage for the duration of the event. Examples include playing games or helping kids do a craft and giving away coloring pages or swag.
- Snack Table Attendant: Volunteers prepare the snack table for kids and families.
- Greeter: Volunteers welcome guests as they enter the event, use a clicker to keep track of attendance numbers, and answer questions as needed.
