Events throughout the year that raise funds for our programs and services. Volunteers assist staff with all stages from planning through to debriefing.

Volunteers support staff by providing a variety of services for the special activities and programs planned throughout the year. We have booths at various community expos and events throughout the city where we engage with the public to inform them about our programs and services. We receive special requests on a fairly consistent basis and often are able to comply due to the flexibility and talents of our Volunteer Team.

Gift in Kind volunteers assist our Resource Development team organize, inventory and support our clients with donated items. Most of our opportunities are at our Centre 15 office, but we do have a donation room at the shelter also.

We also have Giveaway days where you will assist with sorting and displaying toys and items for clients to choose.

Volunteers support our cook each morning and afternoon with meal preparation. Shifts are 10am - 2pm and 2:30pm - 6:30pm every day. This typically involves prepping vegetables, making salads, baking, serving clients and clean up. You are most welcome to share some tried and true recipes for future meal preparation.  Please be aware that we require a minimum of 2 - 3 shifts per month with a commitment of 6 months minimum.

Volunteers pick up food donations from the Food Bank weekly every Monday morning. Volunteers pick up Cobs donation from Kensington weekly every Tuesday evening. There may be other deliveries or pick-ups as needed for events.
