Current Volunteer Opportunities
New Student Orientation
Volunteering at Orientation as an Orientation Leader is a great way for upper-year students to get involved and help welcome new students to campus! New Student Orientation (NSO) is the University of Calgary’s annual welcome event for over 4,000 new students. The two-day event features a pep rally, workshops, games, and opportunities to learn about campus life. Orientation Leaders (OLs) guide groups of 15 new students through NSO as they get acquainted with UCalgary. They share program-specific insights, highlight academic and campus resources, and help students feel connected to the UCalgary community. Orientation Leaders are a big part of the success of NSO!
Peer Helper - CCPD Event Support

As a volunteer you will be representing the University of Calgary and act as a liaison between Centre for Career & Personal Development (CCPD), University of Calgary students, University of Calgary faculties and service unites, and community partners, including future employers. Examples of CCPD events include: Campus Expo, Career Fairs, and Employer Engagement events.
Peer Helper - Front Desk & Admin Support

The CCPD Front Desk Support positions in MSC 188 and MSC 171 will give students experience working in a multi-functional, high traffic office setting. The two key components of these positions are professional customer service and knowledge of the University and services available for students, alumni, campus partners, and employers in the Centre for Career & Personal Development (CCPD).

Peer Helper - Career & Life Design
As a Career and Life Design Peer Helper, you will support student engagement in career development and life design by contributing to programming, services and resources through a variety of tasks and projects. This includes projects focused on helping students navigate career and life design resources; contributing to workshops and events; assisting with marketing, social media, digital and video resource review and development, and engaging students in fun, interactive and educational activities.
General Event Support
Please select this general interest if you wish to volunteer occasionally with CCPD events and activities but do not wish to make the regular commitment required of student peer helpers.
Peer Helper - Camp Lead
This is a competitive volunteer student leadership opportunity for UCalgary students. Preference given to applicants that have previously attended Camp Lead.
Camp LEAD is an immersive University of Calgary camp experience for First Year students. The off-site camp experience typically runs over 2 days and 2 nights during the Fall, Winter and Spring/Summer sessions. The camp focuses on leadership development through workshops, sports and recreational activities, group games, and team building. The experience also emphasizes connection to the land and Indigenous voices. Camp LEAD is funded by Students’ Union Quality Money program and coordinated by the Centre for Career and Personal Development.
The Camp Lead Peer Helper supports the delivery of Camp LEAD programming through co-facilitation and or facilitation of team building and workshop activities, fostering a welcoming and engaging environment, and modeling leadership with participants. This is an excellent leadership position for students interested in developing hands-on leadership experience, relationship-building/mentoring, event support and facilitation skills.
