Why Volunteer:
Our Volunteer Opportunities are designed for people of all ages and backgrounds and provide our volunteer community with a variety of benefits, weather that would be making new friends or providing a stepping stone to paid employment.
Role purpose:
To provide the highest levels of customer service to ensure the comfort and safety of Mayflower Studios customers for all Front of House activities including shows and functions/events.
Commitment
We are looking for volunteers who can commit to a minimum of 1 activities a fortnight. Activities will vary in length however on average they last between 2 and 5 hours and can take place on any day of the week at any time depending on the performance schedule for any given show.
You will be able to browse and book Activities flexibly on our online booking system.
Key duties:
- To be friendly, kind, welcoming and informative to our customers, taking a pro-active approach to customer service and problem solving, displaying empathy and forethought;
- Welcome and greet our customers, scan tickets and direct customers to their seats:
- To enforce house rules and show specific rules, as well as health and safety and licensing regulations;
- To promote sales of ancillary products including drinks behind the bar, merchandise, sweets, programmes and ice creams;
- To assist with functions and events within the Front of House areas of Mayflower Studios;
- To ensure the health, safety and security of the building, customers and staff, at all times;
- Responsible for adhering to health and safety as per Mayflower Theatre’s Health and Safety Policy;
- Any other reasonable duties as directed
Essential requirements for this role:
- Hours of work will be varied, including evenings, public holidays and weekends, so flexibility is essential.
- Some shows/functions may have unsociable-social hours/late finish times – so own transport preferable.

What happens after you submit your application:
- Interview:
Your application will be reviewed and if you have the right stuff to join the team we will invite you to an informal interview held on site at Mayflower Studios. - If successful you join the team
- Mayflower Training Session
Before your first volunteer engagement we will invite you to a training session where we will go through everything you need for the role. - First two volunteer engagements with an experienced ‘buddy’ volunteer
Mayflower is unable to sponsor Tier 5 – Charity Workers visas (i.e. volunteer visas) so we can only accept applications from those who have the right to work in the UK at this time.
