Scotland’s Charity Air Ambulance (SCAA) exists so nobody in Scotland suffers or dies because medical help cannot get there in time. People can get sick or have accidents anywhere and anytime. But in Scotland there are places where urgent medical help cannot reach people. Or help gets there too late. And when lives are at risk every minute matters.
Our fundraising volunteers are a vital part of team SCAA, raising life saving funds and awareness in communities all over Scotland.
As a Can Collector, you’ll support your local area by placing new cans and collecting donations—an easy, rewarding role that fits around your schedule.
What you’ll do
- Chat with local shops and businesses about SCAA’s life-saving work and ask if they’ll host a collection can.
- Keep us updated on where cans are placed.
- Check in on your cans every few months, swapping out full ones for clean, empty cans as needed.
- Count and bank the donations locally (we’ll guide you through the process).
- Let us know how much was raised so we can thank our supporters—and keep you in the loop!
The skills you’ll need
- Friendly and comfortable talking to all kinds of people.
- Organised and happy to keep basic records.
- Confident handling cash and banking change.
- Able to lift full collection cans.
- Proud to represent SCAA and build local relationships.
What’s in it for you

- Reasonable out of pocket expenses in line with our expense policy eg travel & lunch if volunteering all day.
