Conservation & Land Stewardship - Invasive Removal/Forest Restoration - Independent & Group Service Report
With approval and guidance from Cincinnati Parks Staff and Volunteer Leaders, individual volunteers help with the endless task of invasive plant removal and forest restoration tasks in our parks and forests. Group Leaders help mobilize community volunteers by organizing service events and overseeing individuals working to support land management plans.
This service can include the application of pesticide once volunteers are fully trained. In some cases (for example garlic mustard or certain vines) volunteers can work to remove invasive species without the application of chemical, which is determined by the Conservation & Land Management team.
Once a volunteer has earned the Trained Service Person badge, there are opportunities for small groups or individuals to work independently on invasive removal efforts. This work is assigned or approved by the direction of the Parks Land Management team and/or Volunteer Site Leaders for designated areas.
Under no circumstances should volunteers remove plants from Cincinnati Parks without approval & guidance of the Land Management team. Following protocol in reporting service to designated staff is required.
