Horticulture Helpers - Geier Esplanade (Oakley Square) Horticulture Assistance

Volunteers are needed to assist horticulture staff with basic public horticultural work. Tasks will include all aspects of outdoor horticulture such as weeding, planting, watering pruning, edging, mulching, litter pick up in planted areas, etc. and can be tailored to the volunteers abilities.

This opportunity is for volunteers seeking an on-going, consistent work schedule, for example - reporting to the garden every Tuesday from 8am - 10am. It can be any day Mon-Fri and any time between 7 am to 2:00 pm.

Volunteers should be 16 years of age or older.

Volunteers should wear clothing that they can work comfortably in and that is weather appropriate. It is recommended that you bring a refillable water bottle and work gloves.  Close- toed shoes are required.

Geier Esplanade (Oakley Square) 2980 Madison Road, 45209

This small parcel of land, located at Madison Road and Markbreit Avenue, was formerly known as Oakley Square and was acquired by two transfers, one in 1927 and the other in 1932. Through the generosity of the Geier family, flowers and bulbs are planted each year to beautify this small parcel of land in memory of Mr. Fred Geier and Mr. Philip O. Geier, Sr.
