Conservation & Land Stewardship - Caldwell Nature Preserve Habitat Restoration
Cincinnati Parks and the Caldwell CPAC is thrilled to have the continued support of St. X student volunteers in the ongoing habitat restoration efforts at Caldwell Nature Preserve. Over the years, hundreds of St. X students have assisted Cincinnati Parks with the mitigation of invasive species in this forested preserve. We look forward to another great year of partnership and support!
We are looking for a few dedicated adult volunteers who are interested in supporting these St. X volunteer days. Responsibilities will include learning our process for invasive species removal as well as providing general support to the event leader on these volunteer days. Interested volunteers can also work towards getting their TSP ("Trained Service Person") certification, which will allow them to assist with applying herbicide.
Our hope is to attract volunteers with an affinity for Caldwell Nature Preserve and a willingness to commit to habitat restoration in this forest. In time, we would love to see a dedicated Conservation committee become a part of the Caldwell CPAC!
Volunteers should be prepared for the weather. Wear comfortable, work-friendly clothing (with layers in the colder months). Long pants and long-sleeve shirts are helpful for protecting against thorns, poison ivy, and other hazards. Close-toed shoes are required. Bring work gloves (if you own them) and a refillable water bottle. There will be work gloves available for those who do not have them, and a place to refill water.
Cincinnati Parks discourages single - use plastics.
