Horticulture Helpers - Hyde Park Square Horticulture Assistance
Volunteers are needed to assist horticulture staff with basic public horticultural work. Tasks will include all aspects of outdoor horticulture such as weeding, planting (seasonally), edging, mulching, litter pick up in planted areas, etc. and can be tailored to the volunteers abilities.
This opportunity is for volunteers seeking an on-going, consistent work schedule, for example - reporting to the garden every Tuesday from 8am - 10am. It can be any day Mon-Fri and any time between 7 am to 2:00 pm.
Volunteers should be 16 years of age or older.
Volunteers should wear clothing that they can work comfortably in and that is weather appropriate. It is recommended that you bring a refillable water bottle and work gloves. Close- toed shoes are required.
A small sitting park in the center of an urban square (which itself features eclectic shops and eateries), the centerpiece of Hyde Park Square is Kilgour Fountain, originally installed in 1900 as a gift to the city. The fountain was completely restored in 2003, with a recent completion of total revitalization. The project was a collaborative effort made possible thanks to Cincinnati Park’s official philanthropic partner, the Cincinnati Parks Foundation and many private community donors.
