Hauck Archive Open House!

Join the Planning & Design team to learn about Hauck and the incredible resources of the archives. Tasks for this opportunity will be laid out, and a tour of the facility will introduce potential volunteers to this work. 

Overview: We are seeking a dedicated volunteers to assist in operating Cincinnati Park's archive library at the Planning & Design office. Volunteer Librarians are responsible for a variety of tasks, including organizing and cataloging historical documents and plans, assisting staff with research, and maintaining existing catalogs.

Qualifications:

• Passion for preservation and historical documentation 
• Ability to work with a range of personalities and to manage time independently
• Knowledge of library operations and procedures preferred, but not required
• Experience with archives management and cataloging is a plus, but not required
• General organizational skills

Time Commitment: We ask for a weekly commitment for a minimum of one year, preferably with a longer commitment of years.  
Shifts are scheduled on Wednesdays and Fridays from 10a - 3p, however flexibility is built in and may be coordinated with our Project Manager. Katherine.mcclormick@cincinnati-oh.gov

This work will be based at the Planning & Design Division offices at Hauck Botanic Garden. The library houses historical documents and plans including original renderings from the Kessler Plans. Division staff will guide this work, and will rely on a volunteer who can work collaboratively to meet the goals with a balance of independence.
