Overview: We are seeking a dedicated volunteer librarian to assist in operating Cincinnati Park's archive library at the Planning & Design office. Volunteer Librarians are responsible for a variety of tasks, including organizing and cataloging historical documents and plans, assisting staff with research, and maintaining existing catalogs.

Qualifications:

  • Passion for preservation and historical documentation 
  • Ability to work with a range of personalities and to manage time independently
  • Knowledge of library operations and procedures preferred, but not required
  • Experience with archives management and cataloging is a plus, but not required
  • General organizational skills

Time Commitment: We ask for a weekly commitment for a minimum of one year, preferably with a longer commitment of years.  
This time is flexible but would mostly have to be during business hours, Monday through Friday from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM

This work will be based at the Planning & Design Division offices at Hauck Botanic Garden. The library houses historical documents and plans including original renderings from the Kessler Plans. Division staff will guide this work, and will rely on a volunteer who can work collaboratively to meet the goals with a balance of independence.
