Vanier College Students - Support visitor to seniors in residence
Would you be interested in working with seniors in a residential setting like The Glenmount?
Seniors are living here during a transition period after leaving their home. Some have physical disabilities like visual impairment, and some are living with memory loss. They can no longer live at home.
The residents have free time to receive volunteers to visit with them, accompany them to exercise by walking and/or enjoy some recreational activities together. Your involvement can provide joyful and stimulating moments together reducing their sense of isolation.
Volunteer activities include:
- Social visits
- Recreational activities
- Walking accompaniment
- Manicures
- Cards and board games
- Musical performances alone or with a group
- Reading to persons with visual impairment
